Beyond Religion

The bible is filled with words encouraging us to have a living, vibrant, Loving relationship with God that most just don’t get.

In a world where most Christians just go and pay tribute to God at church and have an intellectual understanding of God, He is calling out to all that will hear his spirit saying “I love you my child, I long to dwell in you and be with you always”.  Ephesians 3:19Matthew 28:20.

An intellectual understanding of God is kinda like having a pen pal on the other side of the world. You read about who they are and find out what they are like but until you meet them face to face, hug their neck, and spend time with them you don’t really know them. If we read God’s love letter, The Bible, and find out what a loving Father we have without having an intimate relationship with Him, he might as well be a pen pal on the other side of the world.

In John 15:4-5 Jesus uses the illustration of us being branches attached to Him as the vine. The Wuest translation of these verses reads “Maintain a living communion with me, and I with you. Just as the branch is unable to be bearing fruit from itself as a source unless it remains in a living union with the vine, so neither you, unless you maintain a living communion with me. As for myself, I am the vine. As for you, you are the branches. He who maintains a living communion with me and I with him, this one is bearing much fruit, because apart from me you are not able to be doing anything”. The word communion has a religious meaning to most but it literally means sharing things in common. Jesus wants us to live a life of sharing all things in common with him! It makes the concept of bearing fruit or doing things for his kingdom so simple. He goes on to tell us in that chapter that we should ask for our hearts desires and they will be given to us so that we would glorify the Father in bearing much fruit and then we will be his disciples!

In  Romans 8:15 I see a picture of God’s spirit in us crying out to God “Daddy!” as a little child with out stretched arms!

1 Corinthians 2:12 tells us we need an intimate loving relationship with God to be able to see how wonderful he intends life to be!

Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10  What? In today’s hustle bustle who has the time to be still? In Matthew 24:11-13, Jesus tells us that in the end of these times this close personal relationship is imperative for survival!  And many false prophets shall arise and lead many astray. And because of the multiplication of lawlessness, the love of the many shall grow cold. But he who has persevered (in this love!) to the end, this man shall be preserved from destruction.

Nurturing this living relationship with God is the easiest thing that you will ever do. We are hardwired by God to live this life. If you will just take time every day, starting with just a few minutes, to sit in a quiet place, relax your mind and your body and reach out to God with your heart, he will respond. Revelation 3:20 is commonly used to reach non believers but was written to the church. Jesus longs to be your most intimate and closest friend you just need let him in!

The reality of it is that Jesus said that apart from Him we can do nothing. BUT, reality is that with us in Him and Jesus in us nothing is impossible!

Don’t let your heart be troubled

Most of what is taught about the end times leaves people in fear and dread. I admit there are dark times ahead but God’s children should never walk in fear.  The two main things we need to know as we enter these last days is don’t let your heart be troubled and have ears to hear.

The bible tells us in numerous places that God’s people will be led in peace, dwell in peace, abide in peace, etc. The fact is, a heart in fear and turmoil is not a heart that is trusting God. A fearful heart won’t hear the still small voice of God leading us beside still waters or making us to lie down in green pastures!

If we allow fear to grip our hearts, we will respond to situations out of panic and not from the place of peace, trusting that our heavenly Father will guide us even through the valley of the shadow of death. Practice keeping your mind stayed upon God and his promises now and He will keep you in perfect peace.

Jesus told us that he is the Good Shepherd (John chapter 10). Are we good sheep? Practice following his voice even in the small things. Jeremiah 12:5 tells us “If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?” Learn to hear, trust and follow God now in the small day-to-day things so it will be natural to us when forced to trust God in life or death situations.

As we enter into the perilous times ahead know that contrary to what most churches teach, the tribulation is not God pouring his wrath out on the earth. The darkness which lies ahead is the result of wicked men systematically removing God’s word as the standard of living and replacing it with humanism and political correctness which in reality is lawlessness.

The first 3 1/2 years of tribulation is the anti-christ and his followers persecuting the followers of Jesus, Jews, and anyone will not bow to the anti-christ. The second 3 1/2 years of the tribulation is God pouring his wrath out on the anti-christ and his followers. It is a time when the corruption that has been ruling this earth since the days of Adam’s rebellion will be revealed and be crushed when Jesus returns and establishes His earthly Kingdom and reigns on earth for 1000 years!

There is something that all Americans need to know.

Do not be deceived my friends, Islam is not peaceful religion!

Recently I took a college level course on biblical end times (eschatology). Part of that course was a study of the Qur’an and the Sunna which together form the basis for the beliefs and practices of Muslims everywhere. We also studied the writings of many Muslim scholars. These were not anti Islam scholars but Muslim scholars that interpreted their ancient writings for the followers of Mohammad.

Know these things.
The bible is very clear that the anti-christ will rise from the muslim nations that are now forming in the middle east.

Muslims are taught to use deception to hide their true agenda which is to eradicate all non muslims from the face of the earth to prepare it for the return of Allah.

Until I took the college course I mention earlier, all the end times teaching I heard was confusing and left me fearful and questioning God. The end times are really very clear and easy to understand if we use the bible to interpret the bible. Most of the end times teaching people are hearing tries to interpret the bible using circumstances instead of letting the bible interpret itself and that never works!

The book of Revelation points to three types of believers that will come out of the tribulation. Those who give their lives in refusing convert to Islam. Those who endure, most likely struggling, fighting and scraping to survive. And lastly, those who overcome by prospering in every situation. I want all my friends to be over comers in Jesus!

Remember this always. We are the bride of Christ. He watches over us jealously. God is our protector. Trust in Him confidently knowing that he will always make our enemies flee before us. Our loving heavenly Father can always be trusted. Do not let your hearts be troubled!

Satan convinced Adam that God cannot be trusted.

Hath God said.

Those three simple words lead Adam down a path of destruction of his own choosing. He made a decision based on the word of satan that God could not be trusted.

The only power that Satan has is the power of deception. By default we believe Satan’s lies about the nature and character of God (Romans 3:23, Romans 5:17). Since the rebellion of Adam in the garden, the devil’s lies have been perpetuated not only by governments, the media, and many ungodly organizations, but also by most religions of the world. We have been led to believe that God is mean and vengeful, that he is the cause of sickness, that he creates earthquakes and floods and pours out his wrath upon the earth. It just is not true. The mess that this world is in is man-made not God made.

If you will choose to believe in the true nature and character God, you can live in the victory that Jesus purchased for us through his death, burial, and Resurrection!

I dare you to take a journey into knowing and believing in a God whom you can take at his word knowing that he will never hurt you, never betray you, and has the most amazing life for you!

Adam’s Rebellion

Genesis 1:26 tells us good God created man in his own image.

In Genesis 3:5 the devil told Adam that in the day that he ate of the forbidden fruit he would be like God. How dumb can you get? He was created in God’s image, He was already just like God!

Satan convinced Adam that God left him lacking something. Based upon that sense of lack, Adam made a choice and he put his trust in the devil’s lies instead of trusting God’s word. We have been led to believe that Adam made a mistake and he fell. The devil would have us believe that God is just waiting for us to mess up so that he can punish us. It just is not true. Adam decided that God could not be trusted and he rebelled.

We too are created in the likeness and image of God. And we too have a choice to make. Will we live like beggars believing that God has left us lacking or will we live like children of God with all the rights and privileges of an heir to the throne? Will we believe that we are complete in Jesus as it says in Colossians 2 verse 10?

In Deuteronomy chapter 30 verse 19, God gave the children of Israel a choice. The choice was either life or death, blessing or cursing. Then he gave them the answer, choose life! In John chapter 10 verse 10, Jesus says I have come that You might have abundant life. The Wuest translation of the Bible calls it super abundance.

We have believed satan’s lies long enough! We need to believe who God says he is and who he says we are. God says that he is your healer not the one who makes you sick. God says that he is your provider not the one who makes you poor. God says that he is your shepherd not the one who leaves you wandering in darkness. God says that he is your protection and that you are more than a conqueror because Jesus has already defeated every foe.

It all starts with a choice. Just open your hearts right now and tell God that you want to trust him, that you want to follow him into the abundant life that Jesus died to give you. He is always faithful to his word. He is the one who would lead you down the paths of righteousness which is just a big word meaning how God meant it to be!

It’s time to stop believing satan’s lies about God and about you! It is time to take control of your life, make a choice!
